kmbs Community Patronage Day
kmbs graduates supported two projects that make a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture.

After completing their training at kmbs, participants of the program continue to interact actively within the community. One of the traditions of the School is the patronage of projects that affect the development of Ukrainian culture and society as a whole.

On February 1st, graduates of the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School presented two unique projects that have been supported recently.

Thus, thanks to the cooperation of the groups РМВА-14 and РМВА-9, two volumes of the book "The Cossack State as an Idea within the System of Socio-Political Thinking of the 16th-18th Centuries" by Valerii Shevchuk were published by the Clio Publishing House. Nearly UAH 400,000 has been raised for the publication of the book.

This book is the author's vision of Valerii Shevchuk and many years of research in historical archives. It also includes translation of important manuscripts from ancient languages into modern Ukrainian and rethinking of the Cossacks phenomenon and its socio-political achievements. The author visited the event personally and told how the idea of the book was born. He also emphasized the importance of contrasting real historical facts and documents with the Soviet and Russian narratives (vision of history).

Mykola Sushko, a kmbs graduate and one of the project sponsors, shared his impressions during the event:

“We look into the future through the prism of the past. And unfortunately, my generation has heard so many different variations of history. We were taught one history, then another, then a third one. When it is possible to be at least a little bit involved in the formation of such work it quite differs the sense of existence of personality and business. I am very grateful to Mohylyanka and Andrii Melnyk for this tradition, around which groups can join together. If we take up the challenge for the group to publish at least one book a year, our country will change dramatically in 5-10 years."

Another initiative of the graduates of the School (in particular, the groups РМВА-14, РМВА-27 and their associates) was acquisition of graphics collection by the famous Ukrainian artist of the twentieth century Fedir Krychevsky. Its managers donated it to the National Art Museum of Ukraine.

Yulia Lytvynets, Director General of NAMU, said that the graphics collection of by Fedir Krychevsky is a very important gift for the museum, since sketches, preparatory drawings, sketches of program paintings made by such prominent Ukrainian artists as Fedir Krychevsky show the artist's way, method and pattern of thinking.

This is the first time in Ukrainian practice when sponsors not only pass on works to the museum, but also care about further life of the collection, its research and publication of the monograph. So, on March 1, NAMU, kmbs community of alumni and friends will announce of a tender opening to find researchers for the collection.

According to Andrii Melnyk, a kmbs graduate who has joined both patrons projects, interaction of group members, friends and alumni of the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School aims to form shared values within the community and society, to show examples of systematic sociocultural projects support. At the same time, it helps to keep in touch, not lose each other after graduation from kmbs and do good things together.
