How Do Social Norms Govern Our Behavior?
When implementing profound societal changes, "simple solutions" (punish, "publicly execute", ban, cancel, "just prescribe and enforce", etc.) not only fail to deliver "quick results" - they cause harm and entrench the problems they are supposed to solve. Meanwhile, the attraction to simple solutions is the pain of polarized threatened societies with low levels of social trust, one of which is Ukraine. So, let's explore (in two parts) how the institutional model works in the country and what role social norms play in its formation - using the example of the norm "rule of law" (obey the law because it is the law).
