THE GENERAL STAFF PRESENTED THE FIRST DEVELOPMENTS OF THE NEW MODEL OF THE ZSU, DEVELOPED WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF kmbs

On June 22, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine presented the results of the first stage of the development of a new model of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, carried out within the framework of the "Transformation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" program of the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School in cooperation with the Mohyla Strategic Agency and with the support of the Canadian government.

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Volodymyr Koval, thanked those present for the work done and for creating a base from which to start preparing system solutions. "Now we have worked out the theoretical and philosophical basis, further details will be developed," he noted.

The developed model focuses both on the capabilities of the Armed Forces necessary to win the war against Russia by restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the integrated deterrence of Russia in the post-war period and on the capabilities needed for the armed forces to fulfill new roles in supporting regional and global security together with key partners, participation in the distribution of international security obligations.

The transformational model is based on a multi-domain approach designed to ensure the compliance of the future Armed Forces of Ukraine with the "war of the new generation" and compatibility with the concepts of NATO, the United States, and Great Britain. Its advantages are multiplying combat capability in conditions of limited resources, gaining a critical advantage over the enemy in decision-making, multiplying effects between domains and dimensions of warfare, strengthening the military tool with other tools of national power, and building the capabilities of threshold warfare to prevent new aggression in the future.

In addition, as Canadian defense attaché in Ukraine, Colonel Rob Foster noted, the developed model will likely be recognized as making the armed forces even more interoperable with the details of key NATO member states. Accordingly, this will contribute to creating a basis for joining the Alliance.

"This is only the first stage, ahead — a lot of work on filling and detailing the components of the model and its further integration into the national security system and security systems of the international level," — summed up the results of the first stage of work on the model, Gelena Savruk, head of strategic programs for the top management of the sector of Security and Defense of Ukraine, managing partner of the Mohyla Strategic Agency.
