Since 2019, he has been studying the possibilities of applying artificial intelligence in investment activities — and it was this experience formed the basis of the lecture on investment management for MBAF-13 and MBAF-14 participants, which took place on Friday, April 7.

In the beginning, the lecturer briefly described the main stages of creating an investment portfolio — macroeconomic analysis, selection of investment assets, risk profile, asset allocation, and portfolio rebalancing.

"At every stage, you can use the capabilities of GPT chat," concluded Mykhailo Patsan and went into practice.

An investor's first difficulty when working with GPT-chat is its ethical limitations. "If you directly ask where you should invest your funds, the chat will advise you to contact your investment consultant," the lecturer warned. To overcome this obstacle, interaction with GPT chat should be built in such a way as to "remove all responsibility from it."

For this, Mykhailo Patsan recommends simulating the situation of writing a book and turning to the chat for help building a plot and correctly disclosing topics related to investing so that he, for example, responds as a financial advisor with 25 years of experience.

At the same time, the following things should be taken into account:

• GPT-Chat remembers its previous answers, so it can be asked to build on them when answering subsequent questions.

• GPT-chat operates with information as of September 2021, so you must use up-to-date data.

So how does it work?

In the beginning, it is worth setting certain limits of communication - prepare an explanation of why you are asking him such a question (for example, creating a book about investments), and define a delimiter word in the answers, which will indicate the end of the solution, and also signal that the chat is still remembered what your communication started with (when he stops using the word, it will signal that he "forgot" what was discussed earlier, so it is worth reminding the terms of communication).

The next step is to move clearly according to the algorithm of creating an investment portfolio at each stage, first asking for generally known information and then asking specific questions based on it. For example, you can first ask about economic cycles and their main characteristics, then download a particular country's current macroeconomic indicators and ask to establish which economic cycle it is currently in. To choose the right assets and form an investment portfolio, it is better to first question about the funds, what they specialize in, find out about which economic cycle it is best to invest in, and based on this information and previously uploaded own data, GPT-chat can generate a potential an investment portfolio for "the hero of the book you're working on."

GPT chat opens up great opportunities for optimizing the investment process. Still, you need to remember its ethical limitations, test different asking methods, upload your data, and ask it to consider previous answers and data in new solutions.
