To change the context means to show a new meaning. The exhibition was exhibited in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, in the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, and the European Parliament, in Sofia Kyivska, in the Shevchenko National Museum. Now it can be seen on the floor of kmbs ("Illinskaya" auditorium).
Icons are written on the boards from the bottom of the boxes. Like the front of the box, the spools point to the wall. The fact that this is a pack of ammunition is not visible. Not (wanting) to see does not mean that it does not exist. Weapons become the backdrop of the icon. But she is still there, the most invisible at the moment. She will not go anywhere.
Symbolic opposition to war: to speak in the language of life itself about death. This is what we usually call consolation.
The war in the East is not just for territory. It is a war for cultural heritage, for historical memory. The icons of Atlantova and Klimenko are focused on the Old Byzantine model. Byzantium belongs to us: making the Mediterranean heritage part of the Ukrainian self-consciousness is the project's goal.
The last "Icons on ammunition boxes" is a religious project. At the request of artists from the East, volunteers and fighters brought those boards to Kyiv. These icons are no longer just exquisite works of art. They are the anthem of joint work for the common good. They are shared responsibility and trust.
You can see the exhibition daily from 9.00 to 21.00 (provided that there are no classes in the classroom).
