Transformation of a Large Family Business

How does a large family business change when the company enters a new stage of development and growth, and a new generation gradually joins the management? At such moments, the question arises: how to change the company without losing its fundamental principles?
 

At the event “Transformation of a Large Family Business,” we will discuss the development experience of the company “MOLOKIYA” through a dialogue between two generations of managers. The discussion will feature Oksana Shchehelskaya, a lecturer at kmbs and managing partner of Strategic, Yulia Kovalchuk-Pankiv — co-owner in the second generation, chair of the Supervisory Board, and Vitaliy Kovalchuk, co-founder of the “MOLOKIYA” business.
 

"MOLOKIYA" is one of the few large Ukrainian multi-family businesses that has chosen to openly discuss this in a dialogue between two generations. Together, we'll look at the transformation of the company from both the founder's and the next generation of managers' perspectives. We will talk about how internal changes within the company relate to strategy, the market, and consumer value, as well as what management decisions help the business navigate new stages of development. This will be a conversation about the transformation of the company — with a desire to understand how to build a business that can grow across generations.
 

During the meeting, we will discuss:
 

What is family business really about — and how does MOLOKIYA differ from others? How has the idea of the company transformed into a multi-family business over the last 3–5 years, and is "family" an advantage or, conversely, a source of limitations?

How is the company's value proposition changing?

What is the current role of the founder in the company's development, and what is the role of the next generation?

Which management models work in family businesses, and which create invisible ceilings for growth?

How do the roles of the founder, successors, and the team intersect — and what principles remain unchanged when everything around is transforming?

How does the Ukrainian family business differ from corporate management models?
 

This event will be of interest to business founders who have already handed over or are preparing to pass on management and are seeking insight into how to preserve what they have built, as well as company executives and managers contemplating scalability, company identity, and its market position.
